Health Screening at The London General Practice provides the most sophisticated and comprehensive screening available.

Your Doctor will work carefully with you to ensure the tests you receive are thorough, appropriate and reflect both your examination and any concerns you have.

With the Advanced Screen Package, your schedule will be carefully planned and pre-booked for your convenience to make best use of your time. Further tests and diagnostics could include CT scans, Ultrasounds, MRI’s and referrals to specialist Consultants.

What is included in an Advanced Health Screen?

Pre-screen Form
You will receive a pre-screen form to be completed and returned prior to your appointment. This will enable your Doctor to evaluate your past and current health.
Advanced Screening Consultation
  • 90 minutes in clinic for your full physical examination, blood and urine tests
    – 30 minutes with practice nurse & 60 minutes with your screening doctor
  • 30 minute consultation with your doctor to discuss and plan further diagnostic tests and screening
  • 30 minute consultation with your doctor once your final report is compiled

 

  • Additional tests and scans* are carefully planned and booked by our medical concierge team at your convenience
  • A chaperone will available to escort you to your appointments
  • Exclusive use of a private waiting room at The London General Practice
  • A light meal or snack will be provided according to your schedule on the day
    Medical and Family History

    Your Doctor will talk you through your medical history and that of your family to identify potential risks and problems.

    You may also discuss and receive contraceptive, pregnancy and menopause advice.

    You will have time to raise and discuss any health concerns you may have.

    Full Body Examination

    Following your tests, your doctor will undertake a thorough physical examination including your ears, mouth, chest, back, abdomen and joints.

    Well-woman screening:

    • Breast examination
    • Cervical smear pap test (if clinically recommended)
    • Contraceptive, pregnancy and menopause advice
    • Ca-125 – Ovarian cancer tumour marker (if clinically recommended)
    • Cardiovascular Screening

     

    Well-man screening:

    • Prostate and Testicular examination
    • PSA – Prostate cancer tumour marker (if clinically recommended)
    • Cardiovascular screening
    Vital Observations

    On arrival at The London General Practice, you will spend time with the Practice Nurse who will perform a series of tests including:

     

    • Height and weight – to calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI)
    • Blood pressure
    • Urinalysis – to check the urine for ten different parameters
    • ECG – Heart tracing
    • Spirometer – Vitalograph spirometer to test your lung function
    • Vision Test – includes colour blindness screening

    ECG

    An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a non-invasive test that provides information about your cardiac health

    Blood Test
    • Red Cell, White Cell Count & Platelets
    • Liver function
    • Kidney function, Uric acid, Electrolytes
    • Full Lipid panel (Total cholesterol, HDL/LDL/Triglycerides)
    • ESR – Marker of inflammation
    • Ferritin (marker of iron levels)
    • Fasting glucose and HbA1c to identify diabetes mellitus
    • Vitamin D
    • Vitamin B12
    • Vitamin B9 (folic acid)
    • Thyroid function profile (TSH & T4)
    • AFP (Alpha Fetoprotein) screening for primary cancer of the liver (if clinically recommended)
    Urine Tests
    • Urine analysis: glucose, bilirubin, ketones, specific gravity, blood, pH (acid and alkali), proteins, urobilinogen, nitrites & leucocytes
    • Laboratory urine test for infection (MC+S) if required
    Well-Woman
    • Breast examination
    • Cervical smear pap test (if clinically recommended)
    • Contraceptive, pregnancy and menopause advice
    • Ca-125 – Ovarian cancer tumour marker (if clinically recommended)
    • Cardiovascular Screening
    Well-Man
    • Prostate and Testicular examination
    • PSA – Prostate cancer tumour marker (if clinically recommended)
    • Cardiovascular screening
    Included in your Advanced Screening
    • Bowel screen (Stool FIT) if required
    • NAFLD fibrosis score (fatty liver and fibrosis)
    • PLCO Score – Lung cancer risk
    • FRAX Score – Osteoporosis risk
    • GAD-7 – Anxiety score
    Report

    Once all of the test results are available, you will receive a comprehensive report giving you a clear understanding of your current health, as well as advice and guidance on how to maintain your health and wellbeing.

    A half hour consultation will be booked for your Doctor to discuss your report in detail.

    All the above are included in an Advanced Health Screen.
