SLEEP THERAPY

Sleep is a critical pillar of health. Like nutrition, physical activity and mental health it is linked to increased longevity and healthspan.

Welcome to The London General Practice Sleep clinic, where we provide therapy to address insomnia and poor sleep habits.

Poor sleep health can have multiple significant impacts on human health and the opposite is also true. Healthy sleep has clear medical and wellbeing benefits:

Supports memory and learning, clears waste from the brain and promotes brain health, supports the immune system and helps recycle old cells and maintain our bodies and energy levels.

Poor sleep health is usually caused by three factors: poor sleep habits, stress and anxiety, or physical conditions.

If your poor sleep is caused by a physical cause like sleep apnea, excessive snoring, restless legs syndrome, acid reflux, chronic pain or disease then we would book you an appointment with one of our GPs who may refer you to a specialist in that particular area.

Poor sleep can be characterised by understanding how your sleep experience relates to the six dimensions of sleep health:

  • Duration: how much did you sleep over 24 hours?
  • Efficiency: how well do you fall asleep and stay asleep?
  • Timing: when do you sleep?
  • Regularity: do you have consistent sleep and wake times?
  • Alertness: do you maintain good focus and attention during waking hours?
  • Quality: do you feel satisfied with your sleep?

Our Healthy Sleep Clinic focusses on treating insomnia and is led by Dr Kat Lederle.

Dr Kat is a sleep scientist and body clock expert with over 14 years experience in treating patients with sleep problems using Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).

She has a PhD in Human Circadian Physiology & Behaviour and is the author of Sleep Sense.

Dr Kat has worked with organisations as well as individuals including Boston Consulting Group, Virgin Atlantic and the Royal Academy of Music

Dr Kat works with The London General Practice and we will book your appointments and take payment.

A sleep therapy assessment consists of an online assessment questionnaire, a 55 minute initial online consultation and a 55 minute follow up consultation. This costs £410. Additional consultations are £190 for 55 minutes and if you would like to arrange for a face to face consultation then please call us to discuss.
