There are many myths about flu but these are the facts…
Flu is much worse than a heavy cold
Flu symptoms come on suddenly and sometimes severely.
Flu can’t be treated with antibiotics
You need to have the flu vaccine every year. Flu is caused by a virus not bacteria, so antibiotics won’t work.
If you’re pregnant you should have the flu jab
If you’re pregnant, you could get very ill if you get the flu, this could be bad for the baby.
It’s not too late to have the flu vaccine in November
You should have the vaccine as soon as it is available, but November isn’t to late!
The flu vaccine can’t give you flu
The flu vaccine doesn’t contain active flu virus so it can’t give you flu.
You need to have the flu vaccine every year

Children can have the flu vaccine

Many people think taking vitamin C supplements will prevent flu, however there’s no evidence to support this.
