Dr Sanjay Mehta, Private London GP, outlines some of the hay fever symptoms to look out for. Hay fever is caused when certain triggers, such as pollen, are exposed to the lining of the nose. Our immune system produces antibodies to try and fight these elements and this then leads to histamine and other inflammatory molecules being released.

Common hay fever Symptoms are sneezing, an itchy or runny nose, sinus pressure, irritated and watery eyes, coughing, an itchy throat or mouth and a reduced sense of smell. Other symptoms can include brain fog, fatigue and in extreme cases, hair loss.
