Getting rid of an ingrown toenail

Daily Express – June 2023

Dr Stuart Sanders

Dr Angela Rai, Private London GP at The London General Practice, contributes to an article on how to get rid of ingrown toenails.

Often causing pain, redness and swelling ingrown toenails occur when the toe nail grows in the wrong direction and digs into the surrounding skin. If an ingrown toenail is causing pain then Dr Rai advises on ibuprofen or paracetamol, however if there is severe pain or increased swelling and redness it might also be time to seek out a foot specialist or GP. In the case of infection antibiotics can be used, or it may be necessary for a doctor to remove part of the nail.
