The London General Practice physicians are certified to carry out UKOOA (United Kingdom Offshore Operators Association) and Norwegian offshore medicals for the Oil & Gas industry.
The medicals themselves are similar to that of a health screen (see Health Screens) however, due to the nature of this specialist industry, only a certified physician can perform the medical and issue a certificate of fitness.
Typically, a UKOOA or Norwegion offshore medical will consist of the following:
Height, weight & blood pressure, ECG (Electrocardiogram), Vitalograph (lung function test), Chest X-ray (Norwegion only), visual acuity & colour blindness test and hearing test. The nurse will also take bloods and require a urine sample from you.
In addition to the above, one of our qualified physicians will undertake a physical examination and discuss your medical history in detail.
UKOOA and Norwegian medicals are valid for a maximum of two years; however, depending on the location and the nature of the role, a medical may be required on an annual basis.
